The brief:
In 2023 Croydon Museum produced a new Music Heritage Trail leading Croydon locals and visitors around the area to explore the rich musical heritage in the borough. To support local schools to participate in the trail, the museum commissioned Social & Local MD, Holly Greenland, directly to work with the Learning team to develop, write and design a set of engaging school resources.
Our approach:
Based on audience insight, we developed a flexible resources with activities building in time and complexity to suit a broad range of schools and engagement levels.
The resulting resources offered schools supporting guidance to first take the trail themselves (or engage in the classroom via the app), then hold a ‘respond and reflect’ lesson with creative plans linked a range of curriculum-linked subjects, and finally to produce their own school trail. This combination of activities crossed subjects from history, geography and maths to music and art & design.
